Close End Second Project (CES)
Close End Second project is where two loans are linked from the first lien with another mortgage company to the second lien with the house mortgage company. In the house mortgage company, there was a need to show in the system to indicate this link while storing this data of the two linked liens.
I was in charge of designing the whole tab of where this data was stored/shown while showing how these two liens are linked with notifications pop-ups and design update.

User Case
The following two screenshots are the two user case matrix for the two different panels I created for the tab. One panel is for the first lien with another mortgage company while the second panel is with the house mortgage company. These matrixes covers all the fields and data information needed for each field.

Challenge
The challenge I faced with this project was to take authority of what is the right design for the project and users. Another person almost had the second panel to be an aqua color and added gray highlighted rows. I disagreed with this design since the aqua color clashes with the overall look of the tab and the gray highlighted rows for this panel would be too much for the users’ eyesight. My boss agreed with me.
A personal challenge of mine is not hurting another person’s feelings about the design. I could be too nice, but with design, I have learned to go with my instinct and design principles.
Solution
I changed the aqua color to a dark green color header for the second panel. I thought it was a great choice since it distinguishes from the main panel being in dark blue color and the colors don’t clash. I also kept the first row of this panel free from gray highlighted rows to make it easy on the eyes for our users.
Result
We released these two panels in two different release dates. The first panel was released in March 2024 while the second panel was released in October 2024. Both releases went great and the users loved and appreciate the effort we made to create this tab for them. No complaints have been made.
Growth
This project I learned I shouldn’t be thinking how other teammates might feel and focus on what is the overall best design for the project and users. I am now in a position as an experienced designer and take authority of it.
It is my duty to speak up even if it means overriding others in my team.
